I wanted to be a bit of a jerk and create a 'literal' maned wolf. I dig maned wolves. The Louisville Zoo has a pack of'em of part of their endangered species specimens. They're really nifty animals, and extremely tall. Their body anatomy is not like any other canine out there -- really weird porportions
They're called a 'stilted fox' due to their colorations being similiar to a red fox, and of their abnormally long legs. I took a few artistic liberties. I'm aware that they are a South American (Brazilian type) animal. However, when looking for names, I found more Aztec (that being Mexican origin) names than Brazilian. So while she is Brazilian in origin, I wanted to play with the Aztec themes -- hence the necklace of turquoise and skull beads (traditional Aztec-like jewelry). In Aztecian (?), Tiegan means: "Little Princess in the Big Valley" .... frankly it was the -only- Aztec female name I could find.
This line art is actually fairly old (several weeks old to be exact) and just now laid colors on it to keep my mind off stress.
Anyway. Yay for mindless canine art
1st comment? Sweet! I like this alot, it's cute and very well colored. I love the ears, eyes, and the tail! Very cute. The black hair is a very nice touch too. I really have to start drawing again. Lol You got me hooked on art. Very good Melissa, keep up to good work on top of the whole moving thing and the art projects.

"Hey duuuude, yo solo mio, not in the casa right now, leave a whatsup at the yo... ... ...yo!"
But maned wolves scared me so bad when I was a kid. I saw one at the zoo, and it was one of those things you're looking for in an exibit and then it just loped out and it scared me. ;-;
I thought it's legs were scary and how it just like, moved around and man, I still find them somewhat eeire, but I can definately see the beauty in them now. It was just one of the childhood experiences. D:
Ya. They can be unnerving. Especially because people don't realize that they are an animal that is -very- tall. ... not like great dane tall, we're talkin' 4.5 feet tall if not larger.
However they're nothing but lanky puff balls O.o; They're not thickly built at all. It's mostly bone n' fluff. -- Though I find it funny lookin' when they poof up ...The reason they're 'maned' wolves is because they've a streak of black down their back... When they're aggitated, those dark guard hairs stand up... creating a large fluffy mane/ridge -- It's not unlike how cats fluff up when they feel threatened ... Animal defense
